THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Business and Professional Women’s Clubs of Ontario strongly urge the Government of Ontario to:
1.Cease and desist their planned approach to universal day?care which will put entrepreneurial women (owners/operators of private day?care centres) out of business; and
2.Subsidize the child, not the centre, thereby allowing parents/guardians (not the government) to choose the centre (private or not?for?profit) most appropriate for them; and
3.Make base funding (direct operating grants for wage enhancement, start?up grants and capital funding) available to all day?care centres, both private and not?for?profit.
