THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Business and Professional Women’s Clubs of Ontario urges the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General and Correctional Services, and other relevant ministries to re-issue and re-emphasize the directives outlined in the April 6, 1989 memorandum on Spousal Assault from the Ontario Police College and the Ministry of the Solicitor General and Correctional Services to all Chiefs of Police in Ontario, specifically emphasizing that police officers are expected to lay charges where there are reasonable and probable grounds to believe that an offence has occurred.
